OPHELIA KOMANE
PRODUCER
Ophelia Makgomo Komane, is a South African director and producer who’s multidisciplinary artistry spans music, visual art and film. Beginning her creative path as an award winning tenor saxophonist at the SASBA nationals, Ophelia built a strong foundation in rhythm, collaboration, and emotional expression that has since translated into her visual storytelling. Currently enrolled in a BA in Motion Picture Medium at AFDA, she has just begun to dabble in animation production, and her interests in visual effects, artificial intelligence and technology and cinema continue to evolve. Inspired by Tyler Perry and Marvel Animation Studios, Ophelia desires to bridge heartfelt African stories with bold visual storytelling. For Ophelia, every frame captures elements of art, technology, and emotion showcasing her belief that South African stories and narratives have a place on the international stage.

AYANA NKOMAZANA
WRITER
Ayana Nkomazana has always been a storyteller at heart and as a child she would use her imagination to make the imaginary world around her to make it real. Her main form of storytelling has come through song writing, poetry, theatre, short stories and writing scripts for her work at AFDA. She also aspires be an actress, vocalist, thespian and instrumentalist who wants to use spirituality and nature to transform emotion and identity in the best interests of people. Driven by curiosity about the world and its diverse experiences, she crafts compelling narratives that explore human interests, spirituality and personal growth using performance and writing as tools of reflection and connection. Because she always aims to leave a lasting impact, it is important that her artistry is infused with a deep sense of purpose, reflecting her belief that every story has the power to inspire and connect people.

As a 21-year-old animator and cinematographer, I approach the future from a naturalistic perspective. My artistic surface is 3D space, which allows me to use cinematography and compositing techniques to create science fiction environments. In order to create visual content that blends brilliance with human emotional depth, my creative work is primarily inspired by two things: the beauty of nature and my own life experiences.

Muponisi Makhubele, commonly known as Chulu, is a sound designer and Maya modeller currently specialising in sound design and animation at AFDA. Passionate about creating and experiencing art in all its forms, Chulu is drawn to animation as a space where imagination becomes reality. They enjoy bringing the unseen to life, from mystical creatures to entirely new worlds, using animation as a gateway for expression beyond the limits of everyday life. For Chulu, animation is not just a medium, but a way of living authentically, embracing the surreal, and proving that not everything needs to make perfect sense to be meaningful.
